I have to share this story, it’s personal and it makes me proud.
My daughter, who will be turning sixteen in a few weeks has traveled a hard road but has finally reached her goal.
At 14 she was over twenty-five pounds over weight. She had tried diet solutions with a nurse at our church, but nothing really seemed to hit the spot. My husband and I over the past two years had gotten pretty serious about staying fit and eating healthy. Over the past few months, we began to share with the children the same diet that we were eating. Since we focused on healthy foods like veggies, fruits, lean meats, and salads these foods were all suitable for people of any age. Actually, these are the best diet foods for everyone to be eating.
My daughter began eating more vegetables than anything else in her diet. In fact, this morning she told me she had vegetables for breakfast! This simple act, combined with her finally getting interested in some of the exercise and fitness that her daddy and I do has brought her a significant weight loss.
Her daddy typically runs about 6 miles every other day, I hate to leave my house so I usually do home workouts with interval training. Between the two of us, she has gotten the encouragement that she needs to start her own fitness regimen. She has begun a love affair with running and over the past few months has been able to bring her distance up to nearly 2 miles.
So, what was her final weight? Well, from her weigh in last night… she has lost over twenty pounds. What did she do? Ate healthy foods and started exercising… wow simple and easy. A little bit of change at a time, and before you know it you’ve reached your goal!
